I\u2019m one of the people who gets paid from software sales. Selling software is my job. We don\u2019t jack up pricing, we sell way below recommended pricing here at Guitar Center, and still people waste my time by having me help them find the program for them, and then go home and download it. Then they have the nerve to come back into my store and tell me they downloaded it. Makes you want to call the cops sometimes.
I lived in Hamburg, Germany for close to 8 years, the town where both Steinberg and Emagic are located, and I know a lot of the coders and other employees at both companies. I even know the founders, and let me tell you, none of them are rich, some people on this list are probably better off than any one of them. Why? Software piracy.
How would you like it if I came to your place of work, took your paycheck out of your hands, and then told you that you don\u2019t deserve to get paid for what you do. Wouldn\u2019t think it\u2019s cool, would ya? So why do it to others?
