Bill, I don't think the intent was to edit the data remotely from a PC. The idea was to download the user drum kit/settings from the module into a PC and then have a spreadsheet or similar style format that you could easily change items either globally or individually and then save it on the PC for safe keeping and then upload it back into the module. As I noted in my email to Yamaha, for me with three modules and a four on it's way, it would be a godsend, when setting up new kits, to have a utility like this.
