Please help--recording feature madness!

1999-12-05 by thoughtwar@xxxx.xxx

If anyone knows anything about this please e-mail me or post! I've gone through the manual at least 10 times now and I'm going nuts. My problem is that I can't seem to get track 2 recorded over track 1 without the DTXpress playing back track 1 as the drum kit assigned in the PLAY menu. This causes a problem when I want to record a different kit to track 2 than the one I used on the first track (or the many I've merged into track 1). Example: Let's say I record a jazz kit on track 1. I like what I did, so I save it. Then I go to record some percussion onto track 2. While recording I want to hear the first track so I can judge everything correctly--that is, I want to hear the first track exactly as it was recorded, as a jazz kit. The problem is that, during the recording process only, the DTXpress plays track 1 back as though it were recorded as the percussion kit. Again, this is only during the actual recording, as after completion of the entire recording process it will play the piece back correctly--that is, as two or more different kits. It's like it's playing the piece back via the triggers instead of from memory (or both)? Is this the way the DTXpress is set up, or is there a way around it? The solution is probably simple, I just can't figure it out. Has anyone else had this problem? Help soon!!!!!
