Congratulations, I already said that in my post about the Z sticks... Most sticks are variations of these 4 types, just slight variations in taper, and bead. Excluding of course monster drum corps sticks... I spent too many years playing with them.. the Primary Printers of stix! =) > > Thirdly, they absorb vibration. It is a good solid feel. Takes away the sense that I am banging away on moms old Tupperware and pie plates. BTW... Remember the OLD simmons pads, the hard phenolic surfaces! AAAH! An the rubber 'overshoes' they came out with after a few months, that you slid around the pads... ugh... > It still jars, but not > as much as a thicker stick with a less pronounced, shorter taper. Some of us like working on it. You really need to try out different sticks and give them a shot, no matter what the advertizing spiel says they are and ignoring what kind of sticks "that famous guy" plays and other such nonsense. A friend of mine plays his kit with timbale sticks... he loves them.. and he is amazing... Just bite the bullet and buy a bunch of different sticks and try them out... on your own kit .. not some Real-Feel or Remo pad at the store. I have been pleasantly surprised at some sticks when I got to playing them. My fave sticks and my useage: Easton Ahead 5A Rocks Nylon tip - for general "real kit" playing, power pop, punk & rock, my fave stick Vic Firth Peter Erskine Wood tip - for light jazzy stuff, 50' & 60's music, for a great smooth ride sound! Pro Mark Oak 747B Nylon tip - rock and punk and country, nice side-stick Zildjian Anti-Vibe 5A - for e-drumming > > > I have three sticks I use regularly: > > Vater 7A Manhattan.
