I've used three sticks so far: 2B throw-aways from Guitar Center - not bad, not great, average Vater 3A Wood tips (Fat Back) - nicer, what I usually use Vater Morgan Rose Alien Freak - I asked the guy at GC for a stick with a really fat head, he gave me these. A weird pair, but fun! In my exasperating 3 weeks with the kit, it seems like the fatter (bigger) the tip, the more volume I got with less force. Maybe it's just me though...I do find I need to get some grip tape for them. Like the the older, wiser members of the group said, you have to just try different sticks for yourself. Buy a couple pairs, and try them out. It's a small investment for a huge payoff.
