rtmt: Yes, I have the DTX 1 (two, in fact). Ed had a good idea of testing through the headphone output. Try that. Also, set your kit to LIVE mode in the UTIL section as that will give you more volume. Are you running the line level out into a channel on the monitor that is both pre-amped and straight line? If so, the pre-amped channel should have a GAIN control knob - check its setting, as well. Stephen BTW, Hello, Ed! I set the kit back up last weekend, but I still have some serious programming to do.
