Roland and Pintech L-rods will work just fine for Yamaha pads, as
will Gibraltar. Yamaha's advantage is that the hex rods stop the
pads rotating - which is important for their acoustic toms but not
that crucial for e-pads. You can lock down the Yamaha pads onto a
round L-rod just fine.

As you say, you can get Gibraltar power clamps for about £11 (I get
mine from Drumwright, but ADC does 'em online for £15 delivered),
and l-rods for a few pounds too. As ever, eBay can be your friend if
you're careful. There are few clamps to be had in the UK but plenty
in the US. A couple of dealers will ship to the UK, or you could do
what I do which is have them delivered to colleagues or friends in
the US and posted (or hand carried) from there. Just don't put 'em
in your hand luggage...
