You seem to have won me today as the booby prize. I've used Roland cymbals with a Yamaha module--mostly the CY-6. I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it. What I liked was its roundness and solidity, and what I didn't like so much was its reserve and its slightly unreliable rim triggering--which was a common fault a few years ago. Some of the lack of gain can be attributed to the Yamaha module, which has certain limitations in sensitivity when used with other companies' equipment. I have a feeling that the CY-8 may be a better complement to the DTXpress than its predecessor was because of the position of the piezo. But if possible, I'd try before buying. However, no such warning is necessary with the new round Yamahas, and the prices will probably be more reasonable. And on't forget the Pintech Zenbals--a very popular alternative around here. Ed
