Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

I intend to get a dtxpress, but pricing in the UK is terrible. The 
cheapest I can get a dtxpress II is £875 ($1500). I've seen US shops 
selling the dtxpress III special edition for less!
Anyway, my question is twofold - 
1) Anyone know anywhere in the UK I can get one for less? 
2) Should I go for an older kit - do they last or are the pads ruined 
after such a beating????
