Ed and OGD,

Thanks very much for your thoughtful replies! I've been busy
browsing the messages on this list, and have already learned a great
deal. What a terrific resource.

I just phoned GC and the amp & monitors they want to sell me are
indeed the Roland PM-3. For $500, I may bite. They sounded plenty
good enough in the store.

I'll be sure to check out phones as well, but for now my intention is
to jam with some friends who've been twisting my arm to get back
behind a set, so the amp will have to do.

Would you mind sharing the URL where you found this deal? Sounds
perfect. ; Otherwise, the $1k price for the set plus pedal at GC is
good enough for me; a nice plus is that they're offering a no
interest payment plan this week that means not having to pay for the
kit until 11 months later.

Thanks again, and I'll be sure to keep the list informed of my
progress.

Dan
