Are you saying that the TD-7 conquered the machine-gun effect? Hard to believe. As Stewart says, it's largely the module, but basically all Roland, Yamaha, and Alesis modules in the past have suffered from the same disease; the more expensive ones are able to mitigate it better. The new Roland TD-20 is a major advance, but the ten-year-old ddrum4 module is pretty good, too. Don't go buying a TD-3 or TD-6 expecting to hear perfect cymbal swells. As for the DTXP module, different companies' cymbals can reduce the effect a little, as can certain voices with the decay set just right.
