An e-hat has two components - the "cymbal" pad, which is just a 
regular pizeo trigger pad - and an electronic device which simulates 
the variable opening of the hi-hat "cymbals". In the case of the 
DTXpress, this device is built into the HH65 pedal that comes with 
the kit (DTXpressII or III Standard). In the case of the new RHH130 
hi-hat pad on the DTXpressIII Special and the DTXtreme kits, this 
device lives in the hi-hat pad and is operated by a standard 
mechanical hi-hat pedal.
