Yes, you can integrate the DM5 and DTXP module into a single system. Just to be complete about it, you could do it through MIDI, basically using one of the modules as a conduit to access the sounds in the other. This way is wasteful; you can't get the full benefits of both modules. A better way is to buy yourself a good, but inexpensive, mixer (like the ROlls MX28) to which you can connect the outputs of both modules, ultimately to hear the results through the headphone jack on the mixer or through the outputs of the mixer to whatever amplification you use. (You could also just connect the Alesis DM5 to the input jack on the front of the DTXPU, adjusting the mix with the volume knob; many people have done so happily. But I don't recommend it unless you can't spare the $80 or so for a mixer. It's limiting in terms of quality and flexibility.) You can allocate pads to the modules any way that you like. I might be tempted to let the Alesis handle some of the cymbals, but that's a personal matter. You'll want to group the pads connected to each module on the rack as well as you can, because each module can handle crosstalk only between pads connected to it. Crosstalk between modules requires other solutions. This is just a start to what may come up for you. Keep us informed about your decisions and your progress. We'll be happy to help. Ed
