I think he has a KP-60.

You would do that when you want to use two separate bass drum pedals. I have
a double bass drum pedal set that plays on one drum, the Pacific Drums
PDDP602PB. I like its relatively low inertial mass which makes it easier for
me to play, at this time, than my new Pearl Powershifter Eliminator P-2002C
pedals.
And there is no need to make the adjustments on the Pacific Drums pedals to
make the beaters fit the kick pad, as the KP65 was designed for this purpose.
