Thanks to all of you who answered my posts. 

To Vern; I have thought about just putting a drum in front of my 
kit. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought it might look a little 
far out. But I will try that as my first option.

About the wires, 
Gunny's kit is a beauty, isn't it? It seems you've put a lot of 
thought, time and care into it. It inspires my to get on the ball.

Once I get this worked out, I'll post a pic of my kit.
