This matches up with what we were told by Jim Haler. If the Dtxpress IIIsp/Dtxtreme IIS kits were going out the door like gang busters, then the availability of the individual components could lag by a few months. They were going to supply the kits firsts and the individual upgrade components later. I have seen where folks in Japan have gotten some individual pads already, but then again, you have to consider the lag time between availability of the kits in Japan and in the US/Europe. The Dtxpress IIISP, which included the PCY150s/PCY130s/PCY130 was announced in Japan in the middle of October 2003 for availability by Novemeber 30, 2003. These kits did not come available here until the end of March 2004. So there was a few months in which they could ship some extra ones to the Japanese market, not knowing what the US/European demand would be. (Soap Box Time) My personnal opinion is that both Roland and Yamaha should not have shown their new kits until Summer NAMM 2004 and have folks waiting around for 3-6 months to get their hands on them, but instead should have built up a good supply of the kits for distribution, leaked the information in June of 2004 and released them at Summer NAMM 2004, so that we could all go out get what we wanted within weeks of their announcement. I also personnally think that NAMM is becoming a outdated mode of introducing new gear. I believe that NAMM needs to become Internet based product release gathering, a direct-to-the-actual-consumer venture. In most cases, the vendors/distributors that go to NAMM come back with less knowledge of the products than what can be found with a few hours of searching on the Internet by a consumer. Before I go to the local Guitar Center to buy something, I will spend hours pouring over information available on the internet and in ALL cases I will end up knowing more about that product than the salesman. So why spend time and money showing vendors who don't ultimately buy their products anyway....We are the ones buying their products and we should be the ones that the manufacturers marketing directly.
