By ride port, I assume that you mean input 7. Have you checked the 
trigger menu for that input to make sure that the pad type selected 
supports cymbal choking? I forget all the possible pad types 
represented in this module, but if you bought a Yamaha stereo cymbal, 
you should see it listed explicitly. Select it. If your cymbal isn't 
a Yamaha, use one of the miscellaneous settings that supports choking.
