DTXpress III - Cymbal Choke

DTXpress III - Cymbal Choke

2004-05-21 by rdar4270

I have just bought a DTXpress III (standard) & have added an extra
stereo cymbal which is connected to the crash cymbal port on the CPU
(the bright orange thing with buttons on it) - It is possible to
choke this cymbal by grasping the rim whilst the crash is sounding &
it works very well.
According to the blurb that came with the cymbal it should be
possible to choke a stereo cymbal connected to the ride cymbal port
on the CPU - I have tried this & it doesn't seem to work - I cannot
find any reference to cymbal choking in either the owners manual or
reference guide - does anyone know if it is possible to enable
choking via the ride cymbal port & if so how it is done?

By ride port, I assume that you mean input 7. Have you checked the
trigger menu for that input to make sure that the pad type selected
supports cymbal choking? I forget all the possible pad types
represented in this module, but if you bought a Yamaha stereo cymbal,
you should see it listed explicitly. Select it. If your cymbal isn't
a Yamaha, use one of the miscellaneous settings that supports choking.

See threads 9037 and 9045. That might help.
