Ed, thanks for the prompt response. Indeed I checked again and the setting which solved the problem actually was the "RHP" or "TP1/Tom" (instead of "RHH" as mentioned below). I don´t think it´s a polyphony problem as the trigger signal losses also occur with no song playing in the background or other pads hit at the same time. It also only appears when the hihat pad is hit rather softly.
