Hi guy,

Now that would be a neat trick. A three-zone mesh would not seem to
be possible on the old rubber two switch/one piezo principle, since
rim and head are not on a uniform playing surface. If it were to be
done with two piezos on opposite sides of a mesh-shell metal rim
(instead of one, in addition to the usual piezo on the head), the
piezos would have to be isolated from each other like crazy (or some
sort of special rejection principles would have to be incorporated
into the module to stop the sonic hemorrhaging). One triple-zone pad
would need three distinct inputs (and a lot of processing), putting a
strain on module design and kit size. Whatever it turned out to be,
it wouldn't be compatible with the DTXpress as we know it, or any
other module, and it might be too expensive and inconvenient to do on
its own terms, if even possible. I'm hardly an electronics expert, so
maybe Keith or OGD could demolish my reasoning.
