New here

Hello all, I am new here.

I've recently been interested in the Yamaha DTXpress III Special kit.
I finally got a chance to try out the DTXpress III brain yesterday
(and comparing it with the DTXpress II).

I love the upgraded cymbal and hi-hat sounds... in fact, my only gripe
with the DTXpress II was the hi-hat and cymbal sounds. Now that it
has been upgraded, the Yamaha is looking better and better!

Does anyone else here have the DTXpress III Special? If you do, could
you tell me if it came with the hi-hat stand, the foot pedal, and a
drum throne?

Hello Ryan

I have it. It does come with a serviceable bass pedal, a hi hat stand
and a throne. Sticks and a lesson book would have made it a turn-key
kit. I am REALLY happy with the new cymbals and the new cymbal sounds.
My only complaint is that I have to really stand on the hi hat pedal to
get a fully closed sound. Well- not my only complaint: the tom mounts
are hard to get tight enough and the throne seems thinly padded for my
elderly rump.( I've noticed that one can spend considerable money on a
throne- I'm much too Calvinist to spend money on comfort) This is a
whole lot of e-drum for the money.

Where did you get your DTXpress III Special?

I was looking into buying it on Musician's Friend, but they told me it
only comes with the hi-hat stand (I even called them to confirm it).
I read the Yamaha website, and THEY say it should come with all three
(hi-hat stand, pedal, throne).

Sounds like Musician's Friend is trying to rip me off. I might have
to take my business elsewhere...

MF is a low overhead warehouse operation that has a reputation
of not ripping off their customers, more likely the phone support
checked the exact same web page with errors in the description.
That's exactly what I had experienced in the past when calling to
get details on various items and the person on the other end would
pull up the page I was already using to get the same bad info.

If you follow the review link lower down on the DTX3SP page, you
will see that it disagrees and states that the Standard kit has only the
HH stand but the SP has all three extra pieces. That inconsistency
would make me want to have them check the picking list for an order
of an SP kit and see if it doesn't end up with all of the expected parts.

That said, MF says you gotta wait a month! Our listmember wildman
at Drumbalaya seems to have 'em in stock to satisfy your craving now.

Yeah, I also assumed that Musician's Friend had errors on their pages.
 That's probably what it is.

I've dealt with MF in the past, and they've always been reliable, but
I was a bit skeptical when both the customer service representative
(on the phone) and the representatives that I emailed at MF all said
the same thing: no kick pedal, no throne; just the hi-hat stand.

Actually, the sales person by e-mail just copy/pasted the entire
listing into his message!

I've been told by every MF source that I've contacted that the DTX3SP
package ONLY comes with the hi-hat stand!

I sure hope they're all mistaken.

CB gaffed:

Time to go home here, it DOESN'T say the standard has a HH stand,
only the PAD. sorry.

...too much lousy M$ documentation searching today...doy-yup,

Hey Ryan
I wholeheartedly recommend Drumbalaya. This is because they have encouraged me with expensive cars, free drum lessons, and dates with MTV video dancers. Well- they did send me friendly emails. I would be surprised if you can find a better price or better service. Plus you get to support a small business that has been very encouraging to this community. As I mentioned in an earlier email- look for the little pig icon next to the kit on their page. You have to jump thropugh a hoop or two to get their unadvertised best price- but I found it well worth my while especially considering that I was able to avoid sales tax and shipping charges. www.drumbalaya.com

Let me know how it goes.

I bought my DTXIIISP in a local music store in Belgium. It didn't
come with a bass pedal nor with a throne. I checked other european
websites, and I couldn't find one that sold it with the bass pedal
and throne as one package. Maybe there is a difference between the
european and american catalogue...

But even without these xtras, it still is an excelent kit worth
every 'euro'.
