questions about dtxpress

1999-12-12 by farmerjoe66@hotmail.com

Hey all,

I will be getting rid of my Roland td-5 in the next few weeks and plan on picking up a dtxpress.
had a few questions that you might be able to answer.

does the module have a metronome??
I am assuming so.

and how many inputs does the back have?
Currently my td-5 only has 5 drum inputs, 1 HH and 2 cymbals.

Thanks

Joe

OK, DTXpress answers:

Metronome: The unit uses a click track which can be set to play at a wide range of tempos and with accented notes (first beat of bar, etc. ) And in many time signatures. This is one of the best features of the DTXpress. Unfrtunately this click track plays out not just through the headphones but also the line out, so it comes out the front of house. This can be avoided because the DTXpress can be set to "practice" or "live" mode, in live mode the click doesn't cound at all, but the click light on the front of the box still flashes, so you can keep time visually.

Inputs: 8 stereo inputs (condeser rims and piezo triggers - requires yamaha compatible dual zone pads to trigger the rims) and a pair of mono inputs in one stereo jack (9/10), plus a seperate hi hat input. Standard configuration is one kick, one snare, three toms, crash, ride and hi hat. The hi hat pedal can be plugged into input 1 to be used as a second kick trigger.

The DTXpress generally is FAR more advanced than the TD-5, it falls short in a few areas (like hi hat progression - open, closed and heal splash only) but overall is far far ahead.

Hope you enjoy the DTXpress, check out Giles' web site (http://www.gihe.demon.co.uk/DTXpressions/) it is dedicated to the DTXpress unit.
