Cubase MIDI Signal Issues

Cubase MIDI Signal Issues

2004-10-19 by Jay

I am trying to send MIDI signals to Cubase. All of of my triggers send
a signal except for the snare and kick. I believe that they are mapped
incorrectly. Is this normal? Should I try to solve the issue in Cubase
or in the DTX brain? I looked at the Drum Map in Cubase and it looks
like I could easily spend the rest of my life trying to figure out
with trial and error which trigger sends what. Is there an easier way
to do this?

And on a side note, I created a few .syx files of some of my most used
kits if anyone is interested. Let me know and I will post them in the
Files. I have a decent Zep kit, some hard and heavy kits, and a few
nice all around rock kits.

hello, it's me again.
On your DTX brain, the Midi note number for Kick must be set to C1 ( instead of A0 by default) and the snare midi note number to E1 ( instead of G0 by default).
Works fine for me with GM kits.

Yes, Yamaha's note numbers for snare and kick have always been
mismatched with everyone else's.

Thanks for the help. I have uploaded 3 kits that I use the most in
the directory Deez Kits. They aren't fully tweaked, but they sound pretty good in our
improv band. The Zep kit is pretty close to Bonzo's kit on When the Levee Breaks, but
you'll have to add your own reverb and compression to make it sound right. The other 2
are just basic rock kits. Deez Rock has 2 open hi hats. This kit was modeled (sorta) after
the one the dude used in Filter on their first album.

I have tons more if you like these.

Visit bandhole.com to hear them in action! :)

Re: Cubase MIDI Signal Issues

I'm also having trouble with Cubase, even when using the GM kits
there are problems e.g. no high tom no snare (when hit hard) etc.

Is there a way to resolve this from either the dtxpress module or
cubase.

Thanks
