Can the 'To Host' cable be used between 2 modules?

To say, link them together for various functions? If so what functions can be an advantage? I know that a regular midi cable can be used between different devices, I'd think the To Host cable can at least do the same thing? Right now I have 2 modules, DTXpress I & III with their stereo outputs connected to a mixer. I'm just thinking of different ways to connect multiple modules together. Steve

Such as a computer with the proper serial (or USB these days) driver software installed which allows communication only "To the Host". If you want to connect the two together just use a regular midi cable from one module's midi OUT to the other's midi IN. This allows you to to "double up" when you play on the pads that are connected to the OUT module, as they will likely trigger the sounds of the IN module since midi channel 10 is the default channel for drums. You may need to change one of these channels in your sequencing question, which I will answer now... TomTom

Makes sence;) I don't really want to "Double" anything, I was only looking for ways to connect multiple modules, and was also wondering if connecting say two DTXpress modules together would make both modules respond to my excess trigger pad set-up and have the audio come out of one of the modules stereo outs. I'm don't want one module triggering the other's sound really, but that's an option good to know about. Right now I have my two modules stereo outputs going to my small mixer, then I go out to my sound card. I know I can route the two streo outs directly to 4 of my 8 inputs of my Arrdvark card, but I like to keep my other equiptment hooked up and ready. Thanks, Steve

Dear Steve, Midi doesn't send audio, ever. Midi messages from a drum controller/e-kit are primarily NOTE ON messages. So midi out from one will send NOTE ON data to the other, thus playing (hence doubling) the "sound" heard because both modules are are connected to a sound system and receiving NOTE ON data from one pad. The doubling can be a pretty cool effect when you think of it as "layering" different kits. You have control of the volume of the each module and can blend them to taste. Try layering a rock kit with an electric kit, or a latin kit with a jazz kit. Keep experimenting! TomTom
