im getting piano sounds!

im getting piano sounds!

2004-12-09 by copeg100

Hi there,

New poster, hope someone can help me...When I set up a pad song it
seems to change the voices I have assigned to piano notes. All I
want to do is set up some simple percussion one or two bar loops. I
create them fine...put them in as a pad song and initially they
work, but if I change the kit when I come back to it the sounds have
changes to piano sounds...any ideas???

Grahame,

This problem goes back as far as the DTXpress, reversion to the
dreaded default piano. At this point, as the joke says, I've
forgotten more than I ever knew about the quirky DTXpress menu
system. But as I recall, the DTXpress reverts to MIDI channel 1
(piano) and the "meldy" Bank (GM voices rather than drums) when you
close your Song. Here's what I remember. If drum sounds are lost,
make sure that the Bank Select in the Song Job Mode is set to drumV
and MIDI channel 1 is "off." I seem to recall that MIDI channel 6
transmits Songs, but I may be wrong. The module is also notorious for
having settings elsewhere (primarily the Common Parameters of the
Voice Edit Mode and the MIDI group in Utility Mode) that can affect
the Song Mode, but unless you're trying to access an external
sequencer, they shouldn't matter.
