Sounds using RHH130

Sounds using RHH130

2005-03-24 by electricmusic

I have just set up my new DTXPRESSIII SP and everything seems to work quite well ...
except for the RHH130.

Shouldn't I be able to hear a difference in the sounds when hitting the hi hat with the pedal
pressed down (closed hi hat) and the pedal up (open high hat). It always sounds like it is
in the open position. I have tried various kits and results are the same.

When I press the pedal down I do get the close hit.

If, what steps should I take to troubleshoot the Hi Hat. It seems like a controller issue? I
am already using the Normal (MED) trigger setup for the SP kit. I have also checked the
wiring.

Any other suggestions or clarification would be appreciated.

You have already done the first thing I would have suggested. The
second is to check to make sure you are using two stereo cables to
connect it to the module. Third, make sure that it is not adjusted
too high on the rod. If the heavy metal clutch that moves up and down
that is attached to the center rod doesn't make contact with the
rubber rocker in the bottom of the RHH130 pad, it will always stay
opened up. Fourth, only if you feel comfortable opening it up, is to
see if anything has gotten between the rubber rocker and the ribbon
switch in the bottom of the pad.

Well, no luck....

Using the stereo cables that came with the set.
I have only about 1 inch between the down and up position so its not too
high on rod
Opened up the unit saw the rubber rocker and everything looks OK, then
reassembled
Same results...
Also did factory reset and then put triggers back to MED SP.

Are there any other checks I can do? Anything I need to double check in the
module?

Also noticed your monster kit in the pics. What are the small round
triggers (looks like 5 or 6 inch diameter) you have mounted between your
cymbals?

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Sounds using RHH130

2005-03-24 by Charles Baer

My RHH130 didn't seem right when I got my kit, but I was prepared
for it from scanning this group before I bought the set.

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DTXpress/message/8838

I now consider Dave Ksycki an oh-fish-ul Yamaha company treasure, I've never
had such a painless warranty replacement. (Edirol is giving me headaches
now)

Experiencing the RHH in good working order makes recognizing the flawed
units
very easy. I was standing on the old one and almost never getting a
closed sound,
with the new one the open/close pedal feel is a reasonable parallel to
an acoustic.

WOW! This is great to know. I never would have guessed that this would
have been such a widespread problem.
I will try and contact Dave Ksycki as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info Charlie!

I don't have the RHH130, but if you haven't already done so it might
be worth checking that the trigger setting for the hi-hat input is set
up for the RHH130, not the TP65 as on the standard DTXpress.
