Technical Stuff

Hello again,
Sorry to ask again, but I did not get any takers on the following
questions last week. So can anyone help this week ?

1) Is there a system exclusive (sysex) librarian/filer software
package available for the DTXPressIII, that would allow a Windows PC
to be used to change settings and store/load bulk dump data?

2) Is there a way, in the DTXPressIII, to find out how much memory
has been used/remains for Song recording?

3) Is there a way, in the DTXPressIII, to disable the 2 measure lead-
in when recording is started, during which no recording occurs?

4) Is there a way, in the DTXPressIII, to edit Song data?
Specifically, I would like to be able to adjust the volume of the
drum channel and the melody channels individually.

5) If "melody" and "drum" data have been recorded via MIDI into a
Song on seperate MIDI channels, is there a way, in the DTXPressIII,
to temporarily disable the melody channels so that only the drum
channel (10) can be heard and the melody channels are muted?

Hi Al,

Welcome. Sorry we missed you. My answers may be spotty, but
hopefully before the day is out, you'll get some confirmation. Hey,
those of you who use the Song recording function of the DTXpress, get
off your butts.

No. At this point, the only software ever available was for the II,
done privately by a member, the_kin_doc.

I don't believe so. People usually seem surprised when they run out
of memory.

I've never heard anyone say so. Apparently only on playback.

If, in the System Group of the Utility Mode (1-3), you set the Volume
Mode for "Practice," you can use the Accomp Vol knob on the front
panel to adjust the volume of song accompaniment, and while holding
the "Shift" button to adjust the snare volume. You can use the Click
Vol knob to adjust the metronome volume, and while holding "Shift" to
adjust the kick volume.

I believe that you can mute only what's on track 1, but if that's
true, then if you record the song data on track 1 and the drums on
track 2, you should be able to mute the melody, no?

Hope this is a good start.

To save and restore the bulk sysex data (any sysex, for that matter)
from the DTXxpress III I use a program called MIDIOX. It has a bulk
sysex upload/download feature. The program can be found here:

Gee, I might have partially misread this question when I replied.
Software for exchanging data between a PC and the module has been
available for sometime. DTXchange is available at our sister site
DTXpressions. Changing settings is a different story. Only kin doc's
software for the DTXpressII module can do that, right fellas?
