New Guy

Hello,

First of all, THANKS to the Mod's for hosting a great group.

My name is John Nightwolf and I record at my home in the Desert (AZ).
I am a Guitar/Bass Player who has become increasingly frustrated with
my Drum Machine (DR770). Last week I decided to take the plunge and
plunked down the money for a DTXpress III. I have been playing it for
2 to 3 hours a night. Holy Snykees, what FUN. I had no idea it was
this fun to play Drums!! The last couple of nights I decided to play
along to Boston's first album, since I am really familiar with it and
often find myself playing air drums to it. Seems to be a good move as
I am getting close to nailing it. Any advice, groups or resources for a
newbie Drummer would be much appreciated. Also I am having a hard time
figuring out the hihat and am thinking of getting the sp version.
Where can I get individual pieces of this equipment (sp hihat, rack
parts and such)? Anyway, thanks for reading along. Great to be a part
of such a great group.

Peace,
John Nightwolf

Hi John,

Welcome to the group, and thanks for the kind words. As we like to
say, flattery would get you somewhere at DTXpress if there were
somewhere to go. So far as Yamaha e-drums are concerned, You should
check out our sister site--DTXpressions.com--for tips and tricks,
downloads, and general information. Yamaha's own site for electronic
drums is DTXperience.com, in which our own OGD is a valuable
contributor. The place to get parts for your kit on the web is
Drumbalaya.com, which carries just about everything connected with
this sport, regardless of company, as well as the necessary/elective
accoutrements. Ed Morin, the owner, and his crack staff are as
helpful and dedicated ast they come. We can also give you advice
about future purchases.

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the welcome. Any spots to find beginner
drummer tips in general?

John,

In our Links section (look left in the purple column), Learning to
Drum and Drum Rhythm might be good. I haven't checked them out in a
long time. But I'm sure that other members will suggest other sites
and routes.

Right on, I'll check it out. Anybody else got ideas?
Man I'm sore from drumming nonstop.
