Hi Don,
Forgive me for being obvious, but hopefully you've ruled out a bad
cable. Cleaning the contacts inside the jack with WD-40 or alcohol on
a Q-tip wouldn't hurt. Are there settings that you don't use? You
might check to see whether the kick's self-rejection in the trigger
mode is above 5. If so, turn it down until all of your hits register.
Also, if your minimum velocity is too high and/or gain too low,
dropouts can occur. These are the most obvious culprits. You can also
try flipping the DIP switch on the back of the module for your kick
input to the "high" position, which increases sensitivity. You
shouldn't need this strategy, but it may be worth a last gasp. If
this problem had arisen only lately, I might have suggested that the
foam behind the pad had begun to wear. Check anyway. While you're in
there, look for loose wire or cracked solder. These two flaws can be
present right out of the box. If everything else fails, and you're a
glutton for punishment, you can always resolder everything. By the
way, your kick pad is the KP-65. Good luck and let us know.
