I think Ed pretty much covered all the bases, but in my 'own' case
it was a bad solder connection inside the kick trigger tower. I at
first though I had a bad sensor and changed it only to find that the
problem still existed. It was very hard to tell by looking at it,
even with a magnifying glass! At any rate, by resoldering the
connection, problem was solved!
Oh and I myself though changing the trigger was a bear to stuff the
new foam back in. I just left the new trigger and saved the old one
btw.
