DTXpress III Output hookup

DTXpress III Output hookup

2005-06-28 by pt_cyclist

Hey everyone. I'm a new DTXpress III owner and new to this group.
I'm
enjoying the kit as well as reading through the different posts.
Here's my quick question...

Is it possible to connect the module to a typical stereo
amplifier/reciever and speaker setup (via the aux in RCA plugs on the
stereo)? I know I won't get much volume; I'm just looking to be able
to
occasionally hear the set without having to use headphones. Looks
like
it could be done with a 1/4" plug-->RCA plug cable. Would I need two
mono setups like this, one for each channel? Is there potential
damage
to the module or stereo doing this? Thanks in advance.

Gregg

There shouldn't be too many problems doing it that way.
You'll need 2 1/4" mono jacks to 2 RCA phonos to run the module in stereo.
Make sure you use the aux input on your amp, not the phono input but you
sounds to me as if you knew that already.

I'm guessing Yamaha assumed people would do this anyway, that's why some
people moan about the output from the module being low.
I think it's low as not to overload the RCA inputs on Hi-Fi inputs. (-10dBu)
