MIDI Out Recording

MIDI Out Recording

2005-06-29 by Jay

Hello everyone!

I have recently discovered the power and beauty of MIDI with my DTXII.
I am running MIDI out to my machine and using a dedicated app (iDrum)
to control the samples. While this sounds fantastic, I am running into
issues recording it. The DTX brain has MIDI in and out. Is it possible
to have the tones generated from my computer played OUT throught the
DTX left/right monitor out jacks? And if so, is there any way to mute
the tones generated by the brain? I would like the DTX to run out to
the mixer like it did in the past, but while using MIDI tones
generated from the computer. Is this possible?!?

Thanks!

what you need to do then is take the headphone or line out from your computer and plug that into an input on your mixer... the dtxpress doesn't hold new samples (that i'm aware of), so you'd have to take the audio from your computer.

That's what I was afraid of. You see, I am recording on the same
machine that the MIDI is being generated from (using Sound Studio -
Mac), so that would create a nasty loop for the analog audio that is
coming in to the mixer at the same time.

Thanks for the help though!
