Greetings: I am new to the group (Peter) and have been following along with the posts. I have a new DtXpressIII Special and it works great. I have noticed a lot of discussion about cables, connections, etc. Here is a good document from Yamaha that is a real good reference for anyone hooking up Pro Audio gear. The "Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Applications Guide". http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/News/1220_SR_App_Guide_all_NA. pdf In the Tip 2 Section, page 7, it gives nice explainations and pictures of all the cables you would ever use to hook up your gear. Quickly, a stereo cable is known as a TRS -- Tip Ring Sleeve -- cable. A mono cable is known as a TS -- Tip Sleeve -- cable. They are discerned by having 2-distinct contact surfaces for Mono and three for stereo. Additionally, you can get the manuals and supplimental guides for the DtXpress here. http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/index.php Just type in dtxpress. You need to follow the cabling exactly -- for each type of drum kit DTXpressI/II/III/III Special and for each type of transducer you are hooking up to the tone module -- stereo or mono connection. The tone module itself may also have additional settings in software to select the type of kit it is hooked up to as mine does. You need to set it one of the three "SP" types of kits so it knows how the triggers will be connected and how to respond. It may also be handy to do a factory reset after you make some changes if all else fails. One last thing. I was short a couple of parts for my kit when it arrived. If you need parts for your kit, here are some nasty number I got from Yamaha: T-Bolt V8232200 $6.54 each Nut V2450400 $3.24 each Washer ET500140 $1.94 each Cymbal L-Retainer Bracket w/screw V8254600 $61.14 Angle Support Bracket Spacer VU424400 $24.80 Module Base Plate mting screws V8234100 $3.10 each Cables: V2638600 $27.08 Plus your local sales tax and shipping.
