DTXpress III - layers and triggering

DTXpress III - layers and triggering

2005-12-22 by jk_straw

Good day,

I am still trying to get a handle on triggering samples on my PC
with the DTXpress III.

So far I have gone the long way and pulled up the midi keyboard in
my sequencing software and hit every trigger on the drum kit and
documented the associated midi note. This works...but what a pain!

Then of course I found this group and saw the "DTXpress III Default
Midi Implementation.xls" in the files section......so much for the
long way!

Anyway - I am still unclear on the layer1 vs. layer2 distinction
made in the xls document.

I must admit that my triggered sounds are very artificial - and I am
wondering if the 2nd layer plays into helping resolve this.

Any information would be greatly appreciated......as is the
information from all the contributers here!

Cheers,

jk

Are there additional details I should be adding to this post? Or do
people not use the different layers? It seems there are a number of
posts getting at the same root goal I am trying to achieve
(triggering samples on my PC). But I have not recevied any
responses to my request for information.

Please let me know if there is additional information I can provide
to increase my chances of getting some help or feedback.

Thanks again,

jk
