PCY10 bell trigger - Any alternatives?

PCY10 bell trigger - Any alternatives?

2006-01-10 by gibbythemole

Hey all.

I'm a new owner of a DTXpress III set. (LOVE em!) I would like to pick
up a PCY10 bell trigger, but they're discontinued. Is there another
trigger that will work properly, or a relatively easy DIY solution?

Thanks!
Bobbo :-)

Any pad can be used. If you want to make something, have a look here:

Thanks, Keith!

I didn't know if any regular trigger would work on the DTX module.
Cool. Thanks much!

I'll probably buy a Radio Shack piezo & just mount it on the bottom of
a wedge of masonite for a bell trigger. We'll see how that works out.

The guys at erdrum for free (or try
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIY-edrums/ ) know a lot more
about glueing piezos to things & where, but I bought a cheap piezo and
wired it up to the DTXpress just to see & it worked fine. Cost around
50p I think ($0.30). Depending on how dead the material is that you
mount it on, you may find it works better one way round than the
other. Also, don't forget you have the attenuation switch to play
with on the back of the module if you need to.

Hi Bobbo,

I posted the message below on Oct 26 - they may still be there.

Hi all,

I found some (I think inexpensive) PCY10's!

Check out
http://www.musik-produktiv.de/shop2/shop04.asp/artnr/4908035/sid/!08071695/
quelle/andereart

I ordered two and got them without problems within 10 days, so it seems a trustworthy
company. Only drawback is that for international orders you have to spend at least 50
euros (= $ ?), so unless you need/want something else you need to order three.
