New owner Tech Question

New owner Tech Question

2006-01-21 by danc12554

While wondering around at a yard sale,I found a DTXpress set for sale,
scooped them up for a great price were missing a pad and one does not
work all the time but a great set and it saved my marriage. What I
wanted to know is can I replace the single zone pads with some of the
newer multi-zoned pads for snare and cymbals? Any advise?

Did you get the manual for it when you picked it up? Which brain unit
did it come with (was it a DTXpress III)? I bought a set this past
holiday season (the IIIsp set). The single-zone pads are nice for the
Toms but I see that the Tom inputs allow for Rim-triggering too. So,
I've been searching eBay for replacements. You can replace single-
zone pads with two or three zone pads from what I can tell. I'm going
to pick up a TP80S and possibly one or two TP65S pads to give it a
try. I'm also considering a Y-cable and splitting input 9/10 into two
and running either a 4th Tom or another cymbal or other trigger.

I think it depends on what your brain is - if needed, go to this site
and there should be downloadable manuals there.

As far as I am aware, all the DTXpress models (I II & III) accept dual
zone pads.

Keith.

Thank You for all the help-- from the new guy

Wow

I like to thank all of those who provided all of the information.
With a birthday coming up I got a idea. Thanks for the information
on the bass/kick pedal I was/am experiencing some of the same issues.
Will try to some of the suggestions from the group to see if there is
an improvement.

Thanks again
