Dual zone trigger question

Dual zone trigger question

Anybody know why I can't split a dual zone pad to two different inputs
on my DTExpress?

You can, but requires a special box. You might want to search on either
Magic Box or DTXpander. There are circuit diagrams etc. You cannot use a
standard stereo splitter (such as the 9/10 jack).

Thanks.
I guess it won't be an issue unless rim settings are more limited than
pad settings. Since I'm using a real snare, h/h, and cymbals, I
thought I'd take advantage of the unused inputs without cluttering up
my kit.

Joe,

If you mean a standard Yamaha dual zone pad then yes, I know the
reason - there is only one piezo output from a Yamaha dual zone pad,
the other is just a switch closure. If you split it with a Y splitter
then one input will get the piezo, the other will just get a switch.

Some other make pads have two piezos and you would be able to split it
with a Y splitter into two separate inputs - in fact that would be the
only way of using it with a Yamaha module without my DTXpander box.

Keith.
