Hi,

I have just joined this forum in the chance that anyone may have a contact
that can get the DTXpress at a price less than the RRP of £999.99. I have
just recently stumbled across an advert advertising the capabilities of this
machine and I must say that I am impressed. It has been some time since I
last had my drum kit with what me now married etc.. I have found that I can
relive my youth and play to my hearts content without any interruptions from
'she who must be obeyed.' Does the drum kit feel, play and sound just as good
as an acoustic kit? I dare say it must take a while to get used to a rubber
pad rather than a cylindrical object that can be easily hit with your eyes
closed even after a bottle of whisky. If any of you can help in this matter
it will be greatly appreciated.

Greets,

cheapest I've seen is

http://www.musicians-gear.com/ under £700
down side is you have to order from belgium.
Piedog.com are good I have used them a couple of times £795
loot.com has second hand kits from ~ 600

I bought my kit from electro music in doncaster £799.

However I urge you to buy from a shop where you can try the kit
first, they are different from accoustic kits, and you need to play
one to find out if you can live with the limitations.
Searching this forum will bring up lots of better/worse than opinions.
Try the Roland TD6 kit as well, same sort of price.

Depends where you live but Chappel Music at Milton Keynes always have
a DTxpress on display in the shop entrance which every kid and his
dog seem to sit and play continuously - they won't be cheapest 'cos
they're Yamaha owned but I was really impressed by how the kit stood
up to all these youngsters beating hell out of it! :)
Regards,
Will

Re: [DTXpress] Cheapest

If you live in the Midlands area, try "Sound Control" in Birmingham (they used to be called Musical Exchanges). After I had quoted various internet prices they let me have a brand new DTXpress for £780.00. Internet was cheeper but I think it's worth paying extra for the support and piece of mind buying from a local retailer. Just make sure you test the kit first to make sure you can live with it. Good Luck!!

I got mine from Northern Drum Centre in Bradford (they do mail order
AFAIK) for £775 and that was in June (bass pedal and stool extra
though).

Phone number is 01274 371271 ask for Ian.

Really friendy and good customer service.

Re: Cheapest & more thanks

Guys,

Even more thanks for your information, I am also seriously impressed
by the response time and knowledge you guys display. I too am near to
Electro in Doncaster, the quoted me £825 over the phone, I'll try and
bat them down a little now that I know whereabouts I can get too.
Thanks also for the advice on playing, technique and silent(ish)
practice. Hopefully I may be soon practicing at this time of night
instead of pissing about on the net.

Richard
