Unscrew kicktower?

Hi, OGD or anyone who has dismanted their kicktower. My old KP-60 has died, after three months of giving me only half the required signal. I've decided to open her up and take a look around. But the smaller screws, holding the send box to the tower, won't budge. Can you suggest a way of loosening them off? Nick.
