Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi,
 
I've recently got a Pearl Export kit, fitted it with mesh heads, bought  some 
ddrum red hot triggers, mic cables, etc and set it all up using my  dtxpress 
sound module (original).
 
The idea was to get something that looked, felt and played like an  acoustic 
kit ... and I think (hope?) I'm almost there (as I've added the RHH  hats on 
my normal hihat stand as well). Cymbals next!
 
It all works but the triggering is a little inconsistent. I do  occassionally 
get a missed trigger on the snare (e.g. reasonably fast press  roll) and the 
bass repeat triggers sometimes.
 
Can anyone help with the settings I should change to rectify the  problems?

Tom,

You need to go to the trigger edit mode (page 12 onwards in the
reference manual for the DTXpress I) and look at SelfRej, Rej and
SPCRej.  For missed triggers, it could be the SelfRej parameter - try
reducing it to zero.  If you then start getting double triggers,
increase it a little.  If you are missing triggers only while
simultaneously hitting other pads then the Rej paramter may be too
high, or the SPCRej.  Again, take them to zero and increase them if
you start getting other problems.  

To solve the repeat trigger on the bass I would think you need to
increase the SelfRej parameter.

You may also find some benefit in playing with GAIN and MVel.  In
particular, if GAIN is set too high then you may get double triggers.
