DTX II, Dual Bar Pad Distortion

DTX II, Dual Bar Pad Distortion

2007-06-04 by shuman_jr

Hello,
I have a DTX II kit that has worked perfect for years (and still
does). The symptom, I had a live gig outdoors and my dual bar pad
(inputs ch 9 and 10) whould trigger about six different drum sounds.
One pad was a single (one layer) cowbell. Everytime I played it, six
drum sounds came out. All other drum pads played OK. Checked cables
OK. Why would my set play OK indoors but fail outdoors? First outdoor
gig. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks much.

It sounds like pickup of some interfering signal, although why it
should be worse outside is a puzzle. Normally such problems occur
near mains cables. While you have tried a different cable, have you
checked the Y splitter (or does the bar pad not need one?). If it
isn't the cabling, I would suspect a bad connection in the bar pad
itself. You could try two pads & a Y splitter to see if that also
gives the problem to eliminate the module as the cause of the problem.

Keith.
