DTXtreme kit default pad assignments (and Y cables)

DTXtreme kit default pad assignments (and Y cables)

2001-10-08 by Dan Mowczan

Hello. Sorry for the DTXtreme question, but this is simply the only
active Yamaha based electronic drumming forum I can find, and since I've
seen a few DTX and DTXtreme questions here before, I hope no one minds
me asking this of anyone who might own the DTXtreme.

Peeking at the kit list in the manual, it's clear that n the DTXpress
default kits, input 9 is basically used as a cymbal bell, and input 10
is a cowbell with only a few exceptions.

On the DTXtreme module, what type of percussion is typically assigned to
inputs 10-16? (1-9 are clearly labelled on the module back). Since the
kit comes with a PCY10 bell I'm sure at least one of these is typical of
ride bell like input 9 on the Xpress, but could anyone E-Mail me a list
of what appears to be the typical assignments?

And, to make up for my off-topic post, if you are looking for a Y cable
for your DTXpress 9/10 input and would prefer to purchase one instead of
make it yourself, look for something in the recording section of your
local store called a transport cable. Mars music (www.marsmusic.com)
sells the Cable-Up brand of an appropriate Y cable. Part number is
CUYC302. It's a 6" cable with one Stereo plug and two mono 1/4" female
jacks allowing you to use two seperate mono cables for single zone pads
(handy in case they are routed to seperate places on the kit). And the
best part is its $3.59 and works great on my DTXpress.

PS I know this forum was started for DTXpress only (which I own), but
have you seen the poor DTX 2.0 and DTXtreme forums out there? They
might do two messages a month. Has anyone considered formally
mentioning a willingness to discuss other Yamaha edrum kits to avoid
scaring away potentially useful discussions about the other Yamaha kit
offerings? (especially since they are so similar to one another)
