I have managed to briefly borrow a Roland mesh pad and it worked fine
on my DTXpress III.  Maybe someone has more experience and can comment
(i.e. more than the 5 minutes I had chance to try one!).

thanks, i just bought myself dtxpress II. thinking of putting more pads. maybe rolands. but not sure whether it will work.

They certainly work, you just may have to juggle with the settings a
bit to get them right.  The Yamaha pads are generally cheaper, but a
Roland mesh snare may be worth trying.  I still quite like the Yamaha
TP100S as a snare, on a separate snare stand.

I use the PD8 two trigger pads from Roland on my DTXpress II and it works great.
