Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

I just bought a used DTExpress, looks to be in amazing new condition, but
can't get the pads to make any sounds!  The other stuff seems to work, but
the pads are silent.  so far, I've:

1) Hooked up all the cords and turned on the brain
2) Gotten the songs to play, the click, etc. thru the headphones
3) When I hit the tom2 and tom3, it actually ends up changing the drumkit on
the brain (but doesn't make any sound)!!
4) but when I activate the Groove, it *does* register each of the drums, BUT
it just doesn't play any sound, it's silent!!

Any ideas?  Has anyone had a problem like this before???  I actually didn't
get a manual with the purchase, so everything's a little blind... =)  Anyone
know what the display is supposed to say when you're playing?  Does it say
"Yamaha DTXpress" or "KIT=44"etcetc?, where the 44 is blinking?

Any help is greatly greatly appreciated.  I'm stoked to get this working!!!

Hi Hansel,

I can give you a hand - but we might be better off doing it on the
phone.  Would that be OK with you?  I also could send you some pages
from the manual if you like.

I think the best thing you can do mate is go into the utility mode, 
by pressing the util button and scroll until you find Factory Set, 
and press that it will restore it to how it was when it was produced 
and its probably best like thta anyway if your a beginner, this 
should solve your problems.
