Practice music

2001-10-22 by Rolf Baehr

Hi all,

What is everybody using for play-along music for practice? The built in
songs on the DTXpress are pretty lame, and practicing along with CD's can be
annoying at times, since you get their drummers sounds at the same time.
Are you using midi files from a computer, or maybe something like the Boss
JS-5 Jam Studio.

Looking for ideas on what to feed into the DTX to practice with.
Suggestions very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

I just plug my cd player in and run my favorite CD's. At first, when
playing a new song, it can be anoying trying to get in sync with the
cd's drums but after a while you'll become very good at the song and
get into sync. Thats what happens with me at least and now I can't
can notice the drums on the CD. Also, try turning up the dtx and
lowering the cd volume just a little...

hope this helps,
John

Re: [DTXpress] Practice music

Hi!
I use a midi cable plugged into the joystick port. It is very cheap, and
midi songs from your pc can be directly played from the brain without
importing to the brain(and you can mute the drums). You can also record midi
tracks from the dtxpress to your pc. I don't think it is a professionnal
solution, but if you want to begin with midi, and just play with new songs,
go with it. Besides, you will be able to save your kits or your songs.
But you must know that the memory of the brain is not very large.
Don't hesitate to ask me for more details.
