Thanks for the drum platform idea...

I just had to drop in to say "Thank You" to Bob Sheldon for the idea on building a drum platform - http://www.dtxpressions.com/platform - I don't have anything as fancy as a Yamaha Digital Drum Kit (although that would be awesome), I'm just trying to make it so that my son can play Rock Band. I know, it's cheesy and not really "playing" an instrument, but anyway.... After searching for ways to help dampen the sound from the bass pedal, I came actoss Mr. Sheldon's plywood and tennis ball idea, and it worked GREAT. I made mine out of a single piece of 3/4" plywood, 2ft wide X 4ft long to accomodate both the kit and a chair. I used 9 tennis balls beneath it, and used Gorilla Glue to keep the balls in the holes. To add a bit more sound damping, I used spray adhesive to stick a carpet pad on top, and stapeled a piece of carpet on top of that. Between the tennis balls, carpet padding and carpet, they don't even here it anymore downstairs!
