I have the same pad and added a 100k pot to tame it a bit. I then run
with MVEL=1 and GAIN=99 in the trigger menu. It makes it very
sensitive with good dynamic range. Also, I have it on a snare stand
and set all the rejection parameters for the snare to zero.

I hope that helps.

Keith.

A pot is a variable resistor or potentiometer. There is a diagram in
the files section called "Pintech pot" which shows how to wire it. I
used a small one and put it on the connector inside the Concertcast
(just removing the original tip wire and putting it on the pot).
Radio Shack 271-284 is one possibility. If you want something
chunkier so you can adjust it on the fly you could use something like
271-092 but you would need to find somewhere to mount it. You may be
able to get a cable with a slider built in.

I suggest you play with the rejection settings & Gain/Mvel to solve
your problems first before trying to add the pot.

I'm afraid I don't know what is in the ez-tune & I don't know what it
does! I will try and find out.

the ez tune is a knob on the side to adjust some setting ( i forgot
whitch one) on the drum to aid in setup on moduals that dont have that
fine tunig for that setting. i thought i read somewhere it was added on
for the DTXpress series, but i dont know.

here is the explination of the EZ tune from their web page.

EZ Tune System Debut - 7/23/2005
Our new EZ-Tune system makes our entire line of mesh drums more
compatible with any sound module or trigger to MIDI interface. EZ Tune
will give you more time playing and less time reading manuals. The way
we acheive this is by putting the controls in your hands, not in your
module. The Patent Pending status allows for release in mid-summer
2005. The EZ-Tune system will be available in 8"-22" Visual,
ConcertCast, and AcousTech series SilenTech electronic drums and kits.
and
The EZ-Tune system allows external control over the head before the
signal gets to the module, giving it a very fast and easy set-up.

Yes, I already looked at their web site and it really says nothing. I
assume it has no power source so they are fairly limited as to what it
can do. It could just be a potentiometer, which is a good idea,
although I doubt you could patent that!

Hi I have pintech 10"drums with eztune on my drumset. The easy tune simply adjusts the level of the signal going to the (in my case DTX-I)module. this helps you to match your drum output to what your module is looking for.

do you have the 100k pot mod dont to yours or is it plug and play? also
what are your settings at? my snare will not pickup rolls at all and
some hits are loud and some are soft when i hit it at the same velocity.

Hi Riflemanwi

My snare and toms all have the eazytune... they came as plug & play. My bass drum needed the mod ... it was really loud! I just added a 100k pot to the circuit so I could adjust it.

I have had some problems with my snare...the rim wasn't working but the skin sensor was and they had been swapped by the previous owner (I think because the drum skin quit working) and the rim was able to pickup the drum hits... I am still in the process of repairing this problem because I thought it was the rim that wasn't working... lol was I surprized when I installed the new rim piezo and found that the rim still didn't work!!?! then I started taking a good look at the connections and found they were exchanged. Apparently I can use the rim piezo that I took out to replace the drum piezo(with some modifications) it's on my to do list lol

If you are having problems with missing hits and soft hits I would suspect that there is a problem with either your adjustments or the piezo itself.

here is the hope drums videos on setup in youtube!
http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=HopeDrums&p=r

the one for dtx III should give you the information you need(if yours is a dtx-III that is)(it is very long but is worth watching!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQssf7jGVaY
if you geta log in page just go to a search youtube box and search for hope drums dtx... you should be able to find it there. Here are the settings too;

Snare settings
Trigger - TP1/snrA
Gain - 65
MVEL - 16
VelCurve - Hard 2
Self Rej - 1
Rej - 2

you can do a quick check of your drum piezo by hitting your rim and seeing if it works properly(no soft or missing beats)...you may have the same problem mine had with the previous owner! and are just getting crossover hits with the rim piezo. soft hits on the center of the drum should be easy(just drop the end of your stick on the drum and it should consistantly sound.

If it is the piezo, first check that the double sided tape holding it in place is intact and holding it down...the foam post also must be attached to the drum skin and the piezo. You might also email pintech to get help with this...they are willing to work with us on repairs!

Tom,

Are you feeding the rim piezo into a separate input on the module? It won't work in the normal snare input like the Yamaha snare unless you add a DTXpander. Some people manage to get it to work by adding a resistor in the rim piezo but it is a bit of a bodge which I wouldn't expect to be very reliable or responsive.

On another matter, could you send me an email off group? I sent you one a while ago but I guess you don't usually use your yahoo email address.

Keith.
