The doubles are set up to use two pedals and a bar/link setup to hit one bass head or pad. my set has straps instead of chain for faster, more fluid motion. It is an almost $300 set and is hardly used. I just am not a double kick player and am going back to single.

Patti,

It's probably also worth mentioning that it's only really needed for
certain types of drumming - where you need to play the kick drum very
quickly (usually continually) such that it cannot be done with a
single pedal (i.e. foot).  It tends to be heavier rock/metal that
needs it.
