Added cymbal ¨ can sounds be changed ?

Added cymbal ¨ can sounds be changed ?

2009-07-23 by bigbearstyx

So (Keith) I think you're the only one here-- lol

I added another cymbal pad and use it on the rt side for my ride.
Now the cymbal 2 on my user kits I can define ---as a different crash..
BUT on all the Brain's kits 1-49, cymbal 2 is still a default ride for each kit. How can I change ALL kits to be show that cymabal not as a ride but a kit specific crash.
Tell me it doesn't have to be done ~1~ at a time. !

also I dont quite get what the 9/10 jack is for...(my extra cymbal is in it 9 now) but whats 10..? is it the second input off the kick? and whats it for?

It sometimes seems like that! I think plenty of people read the posts
but because I get my reply in first, they don't need to reply.
Hopefully others will jump in when I get it wrong.

I wish I could, but as far as I know, the kits just look at input
numbers not names such as "crash". However, couldn't you just swap the
cables over?

All the inputs 1-8 are dual zone (or 3 zone) which use a single piezo
input and a switch (on the connector ring) to get the alternative
sound(s). 9/10 consists of two single zone inputs which requires two
piezos. To get both 9 & 10 sounds you need two pads and a Y splitter
cable which will split the stereo jack input into two mono jack
connectors. There is some rubbish where you can use the kick pad as a
splitter. I cannot remember why, but it seemed like a daft idea when I
tried it - just buy a Y splitter.

You can use the KP65 as the Y-splitter. You plug the extra pad into the KP65 with a mono cable and use a stereo cable between the KP65 and the Module input 9/10. You then go into the setup and tell it to swap inputs 1 with 9/10. So you can keep input 1 voice as kick on all kicks. Including the standard kits. By doing it this way you gain a stereo input (input 1) that can be used with a stereo pad/cymbal that wouldn\u2019t be usable on input 9/10.

Good to see you are still hanging in there Keith. I knew we left the group in good hands.

I don\u2019t know if Vern or Ed still visit occasionally or not, maybe they will chime in for an old timers reunion.

I hope it is. I also moderate on the DTXtreme group now. I have a new PCB for the DTXpander which I will hopefully be selling soon. EU regulations sort of killed the original one off and it was too expensive anyway so I only sold a couple of dozen. The new one should be a third of the price and should suit the DIY builders better. There is a sticky thread on the circuit over on the Vdrum forum as well, so I try to keep an eye on it. It seems pretty popular - I have had around 400 emails about it over the years.

I am not doing as much drumming at the moment, partly because I recently bought a gu$t@r! I also bought an acoustic kit a couple of years ago but sold it after a while - I still prefer my DTXpress.

Keith.
