TP80S set-up with DTXPress I

Hello all, I have a question on the optimum set-up of the dual zone TP80S pad with the original DTXPress. I bought one of these to give me the rim sound as well as the snare. The item I bought was demoed to me on a DTXtreme and showed a rim response at all 360 degrees around the pad. After a lot of set-up / manual consultation and tweaking, I've managed to get a response around about a third of the rim of the pad on the DTXPress. I've adjusted pad type / gain / input attenuation (moved to H on back of unit) and the settings, but can't seem to any more response. Are there any other settings I should consider?
